A Message to our Partners and Supporters
From Fred MacGillivray and Scott Logan

Commonwealth Games Canada and the Halifax 2014 Commonwealth Games Bid Society received notice on Thursday, March 8th that the Province of Nova Scotia and the Halifax Regional Municipality had withdrawn their funding support of the bid for the 20th Commonwealth Games.

While we are extremely disappointed in the decision to withdraw, we respect that it was made to ensure the best interests of the province and city were protected.

The Halifax 2014 Commonwealth Games Bid Society will begin to wind down its operations. Many organizations, including the media, continue to use our website as a source of information – and for that reason we are keeping this information in place for now.

We are proud to have been a part of developing the Halifax 2014 bid – the strongest and most detailed bid ever produced in Canadian history. We also feel privileged to have worked with so many people and organizations in our community who got behind the bid and championed it. We couldn’t have done it without you.

In the spirit of the Friendly Games, we extend our very best wishes to the two remaining bid cities – Glasgow and Abuja.

Sincerely,
